Sanctuary Starfield Journey

141-41 Dusk Ball

141-41 Dusk Ball

They surrounded the two children, celebrating their birthdays. The cheers drowned out the distant sounds of passing cars. Mu Tianqiong got out of the car and led the two children upstairs.

The car travels along the winding road, wildflowers blooming along the roadside. Clouds drift across the river, the river flowing like a rushing cloud, its surface adorned with cascading waves. Layers of clouds gather, their color as brilliant as thunder and falling frost, the surface covered in ice flowers, the wind swirling the dark clouds together. This breeze is refreshing, this river is winding, this cloud is vast—it is a bath, it is dusk, it is a heart at peace.

It was destined to be unfair. Beneath the distant, gigantic clouds lay a stone altar. She vaguely remembered her elders describing it as "a rare and destiny-bound place." She didn't recall what else followed, but it was certainly a good one.

Mu Yun was led out of the car by the hand, while Mu Yang walked ahead and went up to the stone altar first. His mother stood beside the wishing tree. The sounds of rain, thunder, and snow drifted from the clouds, pattering on the ground, all conveying the message: "I hope my daughter is alright." These words pierced through the clouds. Wind chimes hung from the wishing tree, and brocade ribbons dangled below, unmoved by the wind, yet serenely still when there was no wind.

As the wind blew past and the sun shone, he ascended the steps of the stone altar, which was octagonal, leading to a center where the clouds converged.

Mu Yang walked up. In Mu Yun's eyes, she was sitting quietly in the corner, being held by her mother, just watching her brother.

The faint sounds of arguing came from behind; it was a couple. Mu Yun turned around, stunned. Mu Yang, who was behind him, had reached the center of the stone altar. Mu Yun heard movement coming from the clouds above. Just as Mu Yang looked up, a bolt of lightning pierced through him, followed by the couple's silence. A powerful shockwave rippled outwards, carrying wind, dew, vapor, and frost, echoing in the empty space—a chilling, pervasive sound, cold and indifferent.

The wind ruffled Mu Yun's long hair. By the time she turned to look at the stone altar, Mu Yang had already vanished. Her mother gently stroked Mu Yun's head, her voice slightly choked with emotion, and said, "Yunyun, it's time to go up." Mu Yun was gently placed on the ground from her mother's arms, but her hand tugged lightly at her mother's clothes, "I'm scared...don't..." Her mother could only pick her up and slowly walk towards the stone altar. When they reached the steps, she lifted Mu Yun high up, as if countless hands were reaching out from below.

The hands of those who had been lifting her up transformed into bolts of lightning, striking Mo Bei and Luo Amaya, who had witnessed the entire event. Mu Yun, meanwhile, was staring back at her mother, her eyes unblinking. Her mother could only wave her away. Mu Tianqiong, watching from afar, felt his heart shatter. This was the 17th person to ascend to the Heavenly Altar since the others had disappeared, and it was also his own daughter. He kept his eyes fixed on Mu Yun.

The hands behind Mu Yun truly struck Mo Bei. He initially thought it was special effects, but then realized it was real. Simultaneously, the Destruction Embers in Luo Amaya's hand appeared, piercing through bolts of lightning. Mo Bei dodged the lightning while observing his surroundings. He saw Mu Yun step onto the first step after leaving her mother; her heavy voice echoed in their ears. The lightning behind her coalesced into a single bolt, rapidly striking the nearest target. Mo Bei dodged, triggering a violent explosion. Mo Bei asked, "Didn't the others notice anything amiss?" Luo Amaya replied, "Judging from the current situation, this is within Yunyun's memories."

On the second tier, the number of explosion points doubled, and the speed increased. Mo Bei couldn't dodge in time and was blasted away. Loamaya used her weapon to quickly switch between attacks, rapidly initiating special elemental reactions to neutralize wave after wave of lightning. However, after the lightning exploded or was neutralized, two more powerful bolts shot towards Loamaya.

With each step, the thunderstorm intensified... Third step... Fourth step... Seventeenth step...

As Mu Yun reached the very top, countless bolts of lightning ceased their attack and converged on the heavens above. Mo Bei finally had a chance to catch his breath and rest. Luo Amaya gazed at the convergence of lightning: winds raged, clouds surged, thunder roared incessantly, snow fell in June, light shone upon all living beings, and the sun and moon shone together.

Mu Yun was also drawn by the commotion above and stared blankly upwards. Mu Yue Shu, seeing this scene, panicked, while Mu Tian Qiong gripped the hem of his clothes tightly and gently covered Mu Yue Shu's eyes.

"There's been no response for so long... what's going on?"

When Mu Yue Shu removed her hand from her eyes, she saw a cloud gather above Mu Yun's head, gently binding her hair like a hair clip. From then on, every newly fallen strand of hair was bound by this cloud.

Mu Yue Shu scooped up Mu Yun in her arms, as if afraid the weather would deliver the final blow, and her cloud hair clip transformed into a sunny day.

Mu Yue Shu escorted Mu Yun back to the car and sat quietly by the window, watching the scenery. Outside, Mo Bei and Luo Amaya were hurrying along the same route back to their original destination.

Loamaya suddenly felt a jolt in her heart, slowed her pace, coughed up black blood, wiped it away, and, enduring the onset of the Black Star Mark, struggled to keep up.

Clouds parted and fell, plants withered and flourished twice—two years had passed. Mu Yun's mood was reflected in the weather, making it seem to others that they could read her mind just by looking at the little clouds above her head. But mostly it was sunny, and little Mu Yun remained quite quiet.

Flowers bloom and fade, dew clinging to petals in the rain, reflecting Mu Yun's fifth birthday. A group of people enter the house, their attire unlike that of the Mu family.

The leading man gestured for Mu Tianqiong to speak further, and Mu Tianqiong left the birthday banquet and went outside.

The man spoke, "He Yaowu - Xia Ye, I am the Vice Palace Master of Xia Ye Palace in the New-New Twilight Sphere, here to take the noble lady away." Mu Tianqiong strongly resisted, "Why should I?" He Yaowu replied, "The noble lady is an extremely rare weather type." Mu Tianqiong raised an eyebrow, "What? You think you can take her away from me just because she survived? What if she hadn't survived? Where were you then?" He Yaowu's tone was calm, "In the New-New Twilight Sphere of the Heart-Clear Domain." Mu Tianqiong gritted her teeth, "You've got guts." In the end, she could only hand Mu Yun over to He Yaowu.

Mu Tianqiong gave Mu Yun a cloud-shaped pillow, his voice low, "Yunyun, if you miss home, you can touch it." Mu Yun nodded slightly before He Yaowu forcefully pulled her away and shoved her into the starship...
