Chapter Sixteen: Lioness vs. Hyena

In truth, Nila's attack on the lion pride was a desperate measure. Her hyena family hadn't caught any prey for many days. Life is extremely difficult for hyenas during the dry season.

Nira's hyena pack also raises more than a dozen cubs, who need a lot of food every day. However, during the dry season, there are no large herbivores on the savanna for them to hunt.

In order for his pride to survive, Nira had no choice but to risk attacking the lions, even though he knew the consequences would be dire. He had no other option but to take the risk to survive.

That morning, Jik went to inspect his territory in the south, which gave Nila an opportunity.

Although there were two lionesses protecting the ten cubs, Nila didn't take Lisa and Aisha seriously.

With seventeen hyenas, they were more than capable of dealing with two lionesses.

So, Nila seized the opportunity and led his men to pounce on the ten lion cubs of the Jike pride.

When Lisa and Elsa saw this, the fur on their backs stood on end.

They were both adult lionesses who had encountered hyenas many times in their lives over the years. They knew all too well the treacherous, cunning, despicable, and cruel nature of these animals.

"Aww! —"

As soon as Lisa and Elsa saw so many hyenas running towards them, they immediately knew what their intentions were.

They quickly led the nine lion cubs into the bushes.

Chu Ye had now run up a big tree. Lisa couldn't see him for a moment, so she called out a few times. Chu Ye responded from up in the tree. Only after seeing Chu Ye up there did Lisa feel relieved.

After hiding the lion cubs, Lisa and Elsa took the initiative to attack.

Faced with these despicable and cruel creatures, the lionesses have no choice but to hunt them down with all their might. They have no other option but to deal with them in the same cruel way.

Nila was determined to win. When she saw the two lionesses running towards them, she immediately surrounded them.

Seventeen hyenas and two lionesses—a great battle is about to erupt.

Nira commanded the hyena pack to launch a powerful attack on the two lionesses.

Lisa and Aisha were quickly surrounded by more than a dozen hyenas. At first, they were able to fight side by side, but soon they were separated by a group of hyenas. Nira directed the hyenas to surround Lisa and Aisha separately.

Seven or eight hyenas surrounded a lioness. This was a very difficult battle for the lioness to win.

Although hyenas are smaller than lions, they are incredibly powerful when they have a numerical advantage. Under the command of their queen, they attack lions like a wall, with overwhelming force.

Hyenas' ferocity is only fully demonstrated when fighting lions. Although they are not particularly strong individually, when they unite, they unleash astonishing fighting power.

Despite their best efforts, Lisa and Elsa struggled to defeat so many hyenas. This was only after they had caught prey the previous night and were now well-fed and satisfied before facing these dozen or so hyenas.

If Lisa and Aisha were to fight these dozen or so hyenas on an empty stomach, they wouldn't last long at all.

Even so, Lisa and Aisha couldn't possibly defeat those dozen or so hyenas. Their only hope was to wait for the lion to return and drive these wretched creatures away.

The male lion, however, was completely unaware of the seriousness of the situation at home. These past few days, its attention had been focused on the stray male lions that frequently harassed their pride; it paid no heed to the possibility of other animals attacking their group.

The male lion was simply patrolling its territory diligently, and if it encountered any stray male lions that wanted to invade, it would go and drive them away.

Back home, Lisa and Elsa were in grave danger. Of course, the nine lion cubs were in even greater danger.

Chu Ye knew that no matter what, he wouldn't be in any danger. Even if these dozen or so hyenas defeated the two lionesses and hunted down the nine cubs, he wouldn't be in any danger.

Because he was up in a big tree, these hateful hyenas, though powerful, could not possibly climb up the tree to hunt Chu Ye.

Chu Ye simply didn't want to escape this disaster himself. He knew he was part of this pride and had to care about it.

So, Chu Ye started thinking about how he could help his mother and aunt. These two lionesses were in real danger.

If the male lion doesn't return quickly, not only will the two of them be unable to protect the nine cubs, but they themselves will likely be in grave danger.

The hyenas, however, were overjoyed. Especially Queen Nira. She felt she had made the right decision and was confident she could defeat the two lionesses.

Even if they don't kill the two lionesses and make them their prey, at least the cubs are unlikely to escape. They will all become their prey, giving the lions a good meal.

The situation was extremely critical; the lion had not yet returned. Lisa and Aisha were already being overwhelmed by the pack of hyenas, only able to defend themselves and powerless to retaliate.

"No, I have to go down and help Mom and Aunt right away. Otherwise, they might be doomed."

Chu Ye didn't want to stay in the tree any longer, so he quickly climbed down.

Faced with hyenas that were as frenzied as demons, a lion cub bravely charged towards them.

The hyenas were engrossed in their battle with the lionesses and were completely unaware of the arrival of a lion cub.

Lisa and Aisha have now been surrounded by the dozen or so hyenas. Furthermore, the two are quite a distance apart.

Chu Ye had just observed the situation and saw that the place where his mother was fighting with those seven or eight hyenas was not far from the bushes where the killer bees were hiding.

So Chu Ye thought that if he could lure his mother and the seven or eight hyenas to that thicket, he could use the killer bees to deal with the hyenas.

Chu Ye saw this opportunity and quickly climbed down the tree to walk towards his mother.

Lisa was fighting with seven or eight hyenas and had no idea that Chu Ye would dare to come down from the tree at this time.

Chu Ye was brave before because only one or two male lions came to invade. Chu Ye could have easily harassed them and defeated them with killer bees.

But the situation is different now. There are more than a dozen hyenas. If Chu Ye uses the same method as before, it probably won't work.
