Chapter 33 This Time It's Not Madison

Chapter 33 This Time It's Not Madison

Eugene had just finished his cigarette back in the RV and hadn't even had a chance to throw the cigarette butt out the window when Madison slammed on the brakes.

Startled, he rushed to the driver's seat, staring suspiciously at the Tyrannosaurus Rex, and asked.

"Why did you stop again? Is the quarterback playing a trick on us?"

"Don't overthink it, the boss wouldn't do anything pointless!"

Madison interrupted Eugene, opened the car door, and walked toward Gavin.

Meanwhile, Gavin stood at the intersection of a side road on the right side of the road, gazing absently in the direction the road led.

Madison came to Gavin's side and asked softly.

"What's going on, boss?"

Upon hearing this, Gavin pointed to the narrow road in front of him, which could only accommodate two cars driving side by side, and said.

"This road is not on the map."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin looked at Eugene and William, who had just arrived, and asked.

"Eugene, William, do you two know where this road leads?"

He didn't ask Madison, since Madison wasn't a local.

Even if Madison tried very hard to please Texas fans, would he really run every road in Texas just to please them?

Faced with Gavin's question, Eugene looked thoughtfully at Xiaolu and hesitated.

"You see this kind of situation all the time on the roads in Texas. A narrow road that isn't too wide or too narrow might suddenly extend into some other place."

"Could it be a factory that's not doing well?"

"Could it be a secretly prepared estate for some wealthy person like you?"

"It could even be a meeting place for some cult. After all, cult members are all quite capable; they can easily fool a few rich people and get a road built. The local councilor will even cover for them, f***ing!"

"profound."

Upon hearing Eugene's words, Gavin spread his hands and asked.

"So you didn't know either, right?"

"Of course, I would have said so if I had known."

Eugene shrugged, and Gavin turned to look at William.

Meeting Gavin's gaze, William silently shook his head.

Alright, this guy may be too quiet, but at least he's not a chatterbox anymore, right?

Gavin nodded in response to William, then waved to Madison.

"You stay here with them for a bit, I'm going to check out this road."

"What?"

Before Gavin could finish speaking and before Madison could respond, Eugene quickly raised a question.

"Quarterback, what's so interesting about this road? We're going to your house, over at Chambers Reservoir!"

"Don't forget our business, buddy. We don't need to waste time on a road that's not even on the map!"

"Besides, you're going by yourself? That's ridiculous! Aren't you afraid you'll die on the road? If you die, how am I supposed to enjoy my retirement at the big farm?!"

At this point, Eugene paced back and forth, cursing and swearing, glancing at Gavin every two steps.

Gavin spoke up, looking at the agitated Eugene.

"It's precisely because this road isn't on the map that it's worth exploring; it might just be a route that bypasses Koscana."

"I can't find a way around that city just by looking at a map. Do you think we can still drive through it by flooring the gas pedal after we get to Costa Rica?"

"Or perhaps we should put Winnie in the driver's seat and have her take us to try our luck?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin waved his hand dismissively.

"That's all for now. You all go back to the car and wait for me. I'll go check this road. If it's too long, I'll be back in twenty minutes at the latest."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin gave everyone no chance to question him and went straight to the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Watching Gavin's retreating figure, Eugene quickly nudged Madison and said urgently.

"Couldn't you fucking say something to stop him? Do you just want to watch the quarterback go crazy like this? What if he doesn't come back? What if he runs away on his own? Haven't you thought about that at all?"

"Bullshit! My boss never goes crazy, and he'd never abandon us. I just need to listen to him, and so do you, buddy!"

Madison retorted while giving Eugene the look of someone who thought he was an idiot.

Eugene was so angry he almost jumped up, but Madison remained motionless.

Seeing that Gavin had already gotten on the bus, Eugene slapped his thigh in frustration and cursed anxiously.

"Fine, you want to explore, huh? Wait the hell for me, wait for me!!!"

After yelling at the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Eugene ran back to the RV, grabbed his shotgun, and went to the passenger seat of the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Eugene opened the car door and climbed in, saying to Gavin in the driver's seat.

"What are you looking at me for? Drive! Even if you want to run away with the luxury car and supplies, I won't let you escape alone!"

"Ha, alright, you're an interesting guy."

Gavin patted Eugene on the shoulder, then waved to Madison.

"Old Mike, Eugene and I are going together this time. You take good care of the RV."

"If you encounter a horde of zombies along the way, run towards the Costa Rica. Stop and wait for three minutes every two kilometers you get ahead of the zombies. If I come back and can't see you, I'll catch up with you by timing my movements."

After saying that, Gavin drove into the side road, leaving Madison with only a few wisps of exhaust fumes.

Watching the Tyrannosaurus Rex's car disappear into the distance, Madison narrowed his eyes in confusion. Something felt off.

A moment later, Madison suddenly realized what was happening and slapped his forehead in frustration.

"Fuck!"

He cursed angrily.

"I should have gone with the boss, but that son of a bitch beat me to it. I actually thought I was the driver, damn it!"

After saying that, Madison dejectedly led William back to the RV.

Upon seeing them return, Doris, who was panicked after witnessing Gavin's departure, quickly inquired about Gavin's whereabouts.

Madison and Doris explained the kung fu, and the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Eugene, gripping the shotgun, pondered as he asked Gavin.

"Garvin, tell me honestly, what are our chances of getting through the Costa Rica?"

Why are you asking this?

Gavin looked around and asked a question without turning his head.

Faced with Gavin's question, Eugene paused for a moment, then sighed and said...

"On the way from the artificial lake to Ennis, you weren't paying as much attention to every possibility we passed as you are now."

"Whether it's a guardrail that might prevent us from leaving the road, or a side path that might offer a shortcut!"

"Why waste your time on the road if it weren't so difficult for us to get through the Costa Rica to your home?"

"So, everything you did by stopping on the road was just to prepare an escape route for us, right?"

As he spoke, Eugene unconsciously raised his hand and rubbed his slightly sweaty palm heavily on his clothes.

Gavin, standing to the side, remained silent for a moment before nodding with a light laugh.

"you're right."

"Holy crap, if I'm right, why can you still laugh? Fuck!"

Eugene was particularly annoyed by Gavin's current smile, the smile that Gavin could manage when Eugene couldn't!

Seeing the uneasy Eugene, Gavin smiled and tossed him a cigarette, saying...

"Stop going crazy, have a smoke and calm down. As long as we're alive, anywhere can be my home."

"I do love my farm, but I love my life even more. Even if the Costa Rica is as difficult as I fear, are we going to die on the spot because we can't get through it?"

"Well……"

Upon hearing this, Eugene awkwardly took the cigarette and said...

"That's not the case."

"Yes, as long as you don't die on the spot, it's not a big deal."

Gavin continued speaking to Eugene.

"Don't forget, Ennis Town is sparsely populated now. We can find a hill in the nearby forest to set up camp and live off the supplies around the town for a long time. What's more, we can also hunt."

"Also, although every road on the map leading to my house will definitely pass through the city of Costa Rica, isn't this a small road that doesn't exist on the map?"

"Even if we don't find anything on this path, we might find other ways to bypass the Costa Rica. Those who are alive will never lack solutions, Yu... um?"

Just as Gavin finished speaking, he suddenly stopped.

Meanwhile, inside the Tyrannosaurus Rex car.

A very familiar piece of music started playing!

"That...that is..."

Eugene asked in surprise while unconsciously rummaging through his pockets.

Gavin quickly picked up his phone.

After glancing at the caller ID, Gavin took a deep breath and said in surprise.

"Yes, that was a phone ringing, but the problem is..."

"The person who called me wasn't Madison!"
