Chapter 7 Clothes
Chapter 7 Clothes
The morning light pierced through the gap in the curtains, cutting into a sharp beam that slanted across the living room floor.
Tornado woke up first. She opened her eyes, stared at the ceiling for three seconds, and then slowly turned her head. Fubuki was still asleep, her face turned to the side, her breathing light and even. One hand rested on the pillow, her fingers slightly curled.
The tornado didn't move; it just lay there, looking at its younger sister's sleeping face and listening to her breathing.
After a while, she sat up gently, moving very slowly, so as not to wake up Fubuki.
I got out of bed, put on my slippers, and the sound of my shoes on the wooden floor was very soft and gentle.
There was no one in the living room, and He Quan's bedroom door was closed.
Tornado walked into the bathroom. Her hair in the mirror was a mess, with a few strands sticking up particularly stubbornly. She stared at the mirror for a while, then raised her hand.
A pale green glow lit up at my fingertips.
The toothbrush floated up from the cup, the toothpaste cap unscrewed itself, and a tube of toothpaste was squeezed evenly onto the bristles. Then the toothbrush floated in front of her, and she began to brush her teeth.
A towel floated down from the rack, was wetted under the tap, wrung out, and then gently placed on her face. It was warm, neither too hot nor too cold, just right.
"Tsk tsk, superpowers are so convenient."
The sound came from the doorway.
Long Juan's hand trembled, and the toothbrush almost fell into the sink. She turned her head and saw He Quan walk in as well.
He Quan exclaimed, "I really envy your superpowers."
Tornado controlled the towel to finish wiping her face, then put the toothbrush and towel back in their places. The glow went out. She said, "What's there to envy? Don't you have superpowers too?"
He Quan joked, "My superpowers are too weak, and not as convenient as yours. I'll need your help more often in the future~"
The tornado paused for a moment.
help?
Like yesterday?
The tips of her ears began to turn red. Starting from her earlobes, the color gradually climbed upwards until her entire ear turned a pale pink.
"don't want!"
Tornado firmly refused: "Yesterday... that was to thank you. Not again."
"What kind of help do you need?"
Another voice broke in. Fubuki stood at the bathroom door, rubbing her eyes, a tuft of hair sticking up from sleep.
He Quan bent down and lowered his voice mysteriously: "This is a little secret between your sister and me."
"secret?"
Fubuki's eyes lit up instantly. She leaned closer to Tornado, tilting her head up: "Sister, what secret? I want to hear it."
Tornado opened her mouth, but no sound came out. She felt the temperature on her face rising rapidly, burning from her cheeks all the way to her neck.
He Quan deliberately asked, "Does Chuixue really want to know?"
"Uh-huh!"
Fubuki nodded vigorously.
"Don't talk nonsense!"
Tornado controlled the towel, toothbrush, and cup, hurling them all at He Quan! She didn't want Fubuki to know!
He Quan caught the object that was thrown at him, then told Chuixue with a regretful expression, "See, your sister wouldn't let me tell you. It's all your sister's fault! It's all her fault!"
Tornado: "..."
She suddenly remembered something, glared at He Quan, and said fiercely, "You're not allowed to do that kind of thing to Chuixue!"
"What kind of thing?" Fubuki asked, even more curious.
Tornado didn't know how to explain it; it was all He Quan's fault for talking nonsense.
He Quan extended an index finger and gently pressed it against Chuixue's lips, saying, "Don't ask anymore. I already told you it's a secret. Your sister is angry! You don't want your sister to be angry, do you?"
Tornado: "..."
Why does this guy always say such strange things?
Breakfast was a sandwich and milk. It was made using the food tablecloth again.
Tornado ate in small bites, while Fubuki ate until her cheeks were bulging, like a hamster.
Halfway through the meal, there was a knock on the door.
He Quan put down his cup and went to open the door.
Blast stood outside the door, still wearing his white armor, but with a hint of fatigue on his face.
He saw Fubuki as soon as he entered the room. His gaze lingered on Fubuki's face for two seconds before turning to He Quan with a questioning look.
"She's Tornado's sister," He Quan said, stepping aside to let him in. "When I went back to see her yesterday, people from the research institute came to my door. Her parents were killed by them, so I brought her back."
"I know about their parents' situation. I'm very sorry, but the matter has been resolved."
Blast said that he had asked a friend to investigate Tornado and Ho Chuan, and that he knew about Tornado's family background and what happened yesterday.
He Quan said, "That research institute... is backed by an organization called 'Tsukuyomi.' You could investigate that."
Blast nodded in agreement, preparing to have his friend investigate. He had more important matters to attend to. He looked at He Quan and asked, "What about you? Any progress in your memory?"
He Quan leaned back in his chair, slowly twirling the milk glass in his hand, and asked, "What did you find out about me?"
Blast stared at him for a few seconds, then shook his head: "There's no information about your past at all. It's like you appeared out of thin air."
"Well, there's nothing I can do about that then." He Quan shrugged. "I don't know either."
This answer was exactly what he expected. He sighed and asked, "So, what are your plans next?"
He Quan didn't answer immediately. He glanced at Long Juan, then at Fubuki. Long Juan had her head down, staring at the half-full glass of milk remaining. Fubuki was taking her last bite, her cheeks twitching.
Then he reached out and pulled both girls into his arms, one in each hand, encircling them in his embrace.
He said with a laugh in his voice, "I plan to take care of them and live with them in the future."
Tornado stiffened for a moment, but didn't break free. Fubuki, on the other hand, naturally leaned closer to him, a bit of bread crumb still clinging to the corner of her mouth.
Blast watched this scene in silence for a moment, then said, "You can stay here. I have some things to take care of, and it will probably be a long time before we meet again."
"it is good."
He Quan knew that the blasting operation was investigating an incident related to "God".
For Blast, the strange monsters and disasters on Earth may be a "local problem," while the threat of "God" is a "global problem" that concerns the survival of the entire population.
The explosion was blasted away.
The living room was quiet for a while.
The tornado struggled, crying, "Put me down!"
He Quan released his grip, stood up, and went into the bedroom. When he came out, he was carrying two paper bags, which were exquisitely packaged and tied with dark purple ribbons.
He handed the paper bags to Tornado and Fubuki respectively: "These are the new clothes I bought for you. Change into them, and I'll take you to the amusement park today."
Fubuki's eyes lit up immediately.
"An amusement park?"
"Okay. Wear this."
Tornado took the paper bag and glanced inside. Black fabric, lace, ribbons.
"What is this?"
"Clothes."
He Quan said matter-of-factly, "I really like this style; I feel it suits you all perfectly."
Fubuki couldn't wait to empty the contents of the paper bag.
A deep purple and black dress with tiered skirts, white lace embellishing the cuffs and neckline. It came with matching black leather shoes and white socks with lace trim.
"So beautiful!"
She held her skirt tightly, her eyes sparkling.
Inside the tornado's bag was a navy blue dress with black trim. The design was simpler, yet equally exquisite: a high neck, long sleeves, and a large black satin ribbon bow at the back. The skirt wasn't long, ending just above the knee, and she paired it with white tights and black round-toed leather shoes.
Fubuki had already run into the room with her clothes in her arms, with Tornado following closely behind.
The door wasn't closed properly, and you could hear the rustling sounds of someone changing clothes inside, along with Chuixue's small, cheerful humming.
"Sister, how do I tie this ribbon?"
"Let me see..."
He Quan sat in the living room waiting. About ten minutes later, the door opened.
Fubuki came out first.
She twirled around, her skirt billowing like a blooming purplish-black iris.
The deep purple dress made her skin appear even whiter, and the white lace at the neckline resembled tiny waves. The sleeves were puff sleeves, fitted at the cuffs and adorned with black satin ribbons. The skirt had many layers, the outermost being tulle embroidered with subtly patterned roses.
Her black leather shoes were polished to a shine, and the lace trim of her white ankle socks peeked out from above her ankles. Her hair was loose, with slightly curled ends.
"Isn't it beautiful?"
She looked up at He Quan, her eyes curving into crescents.
"Hmm, she's even prettier than your sister!"
He Quan reached out and ruffled her hair.
Hearing He Quan's praise, Chuixue's face flushed slightly. She looked down at her skirt and lightly rubbed her toes against the ground.
Then the tornado appeared.
The skirt was actually very well-tailored. The waistline was perfectly cinched, and the large black bow at the back was tied neatly, with the ribbon tail dangling down to near the hem. The skirt was A-line, ending above the knee, revealing legs clad in white pantyhose. The pantyhose were very thin, allowing a glimpse of the pale skin beneath.
The most eye-catching thing was her pair of black round-toed leather shoes. They were lace-up with a small, shiny metal buckle on the upper.
But the clothes looked a bit awkward on me. The collar wasn't turned down properly, one side was higher than the other. The bow at the back was tied correctly, but it was crooked, leaning to the left. The skirt was also a bit wrinkled, probably from when I was tugging at it in the room.
Tornado stood at the doorway, not walking this way. She stared down at the tips of her shoes, her ears bright red.
He Quan walked over and squatted down in front of her.
"Turn around," he said.
The tornado didn't move.
"The bow is crooked," He Quan explained.
She then slowly turned around.
He Quan reached out and gently untied the bow at her back. The ribbon slid down to her waist. Then he straightened the skirt, smoothing out the wrinkles, the fabric becoming supple in his hands. The navy blue skirt, like a calm lake, was completely wrinkle-free.
Next was the collar. He carefully turned the collar up, aligning the two sides. His fingers occasionally brushed against her neck, and he could feel the pulse beneath her skin, beating a little fast.
Finally, there was the bow. He crossed the two ribbons, tied a knot, tightened it, and straightened it. His movements were practiced, like someone who often tied bows for others. The finished bow stood neatly in the center of his back, with both ends of equal length.
"Okay," he said.
The tornado slowly turned back, still not daring to raise its head.
He Quan took two steps back, looked her up and down, and then nodded.
"It's very beautiful, even more beautiful than Fubuki."
Tornado: "..."
Fubuki: "..."
